Our Goals

What We Offer We offer youth (girls) a safe, home-like environment, grounded in compassion and nurturing, where they may work through the issues of emotional and/or psychological distress, behavioral disorders, delinquency, dysfunctional family relations, and poor educational achievement and advancement in a structured, routine based environment. As part of our social services, we offer an environment and culture that fosters and encourages the youth in our care to make their own choices and take responsibility for their behavior. We are dedicated to helping our youth reach their greatest potential. Our emphasis is on providing quality care and love. Our youth have an opportunity to experience a stable foundation on which to build a wholesome and healthy life.

Who We Serve

We serve young women from diverse backgrounds. We work on behalf of minors who have child welfare status and who are unable to live at home, have had multiple placements in other child-care facilities, first-time placement, emergency placement, encountered trouble with the law, or have been adjudicated for non-personal crimes, and/or have been removed from their homes as a result of abuse, neglect, abandonment or are in need of supervision.

The average stay for youth in our care depends on the needs of the individual, family, and stakeholder(s). The young women attend virtual school and work with certified teachers and assistants that assist with schoolwork. For every four youths, Athena House provides an advisor who encourages appropriate behavior individually and rewards daily progress.
